THE Lanes Cove 20th annual Bluefish Tournement got off to a great start with with 585 people signed in at ten bucks a pop. This tournament has never been canceled. Winds were 15-20 knots, small craft warnings were up, seas 2-4 foot chop. By days end two people, not in the tournement, had to be rescued from their canoe about a mile off shore. The man was 65 years old and the woman was in her late 50's My friend that made the rescue said he and his son did not even get a thank you.
My son and I had nine fish with the biggest weighing 7lbs.
This tournement drew over a thousand spectators at the 4:00PM weigh in.
The winning bluefish weighed 11.02lbs. that 1st place fish was worth a little less then $200.00 a lb.
1st place $2,000.00 11.02lbs.
2nd place $1,500.00 10.96lbs.
3rd place $1,000.00 10.22lbs.
