Hey all,
I am restoring a '73 Chrysler Conqueror and am about to get to the stereo. I did not want to put a head unit in it, as I didn't see a real need for it. It would muddy up the clean lines of the dash and just add clutter. Everyone has smart phones with audio streaming and music, ipods, etc, so my original plan was to have a marine amp power 4 6.5" Polk marine speakers. From the amp, I would just run an input that I could plug my Android phone, ipod, etc into and listen to music that way. That seems easy enough. Amp would be behind the dash, and the audio input would come through the glove box, so the phone could just sit in the glovebox (also have a charger in the glovebox).
Then I started wondering if there was a simple bluetooth interface I could use for the amp, or if there is an amp made that integrates bluetooth so my phone could potentially just hook into the bluetooth and be used from anywhere in the boat to change music and not be plugged into the audio input.
I saw an amplifier made by poly-planar (ME60BT) that may work, but I have never heard of them, and haven't found any reviews. (ME60BT Bluetooth wireless marine grade amplifier with waterproof control pad | PolyPlanar Waterproof Marine Audio Systems)
I also came across this Belkin device that would probably work : Amazon.com: Belkin Bluetooth Car Hands-Free Kit for Apple iPod, Apple iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android Smartphones, US Version: MP3 Players & Accessories
Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Ever use a setup like the poly-planar? Any suggestions? I want it simple, clean, and I don't even want to see it (maybe stash it in the glove box).
Thanks,
- Jason
