Enthusiastic but dense worker bee, I recently acquired a 23 YO center console free with soft deck and leaking tank. I have replaced 2/3 of soft deck with divincell and biax with epoxy. much more to do however i am slow and steady. more hope than money, thats why im consistent with my boat progress. I saw other posters bw180 and no current posts. I have pictures of progress thus far. Thanks bwp

Re: Bluewater 180 1988 slow restoration

boat is bluewater 180, long term project, finishing deck soon, then fuel tank, then hang 90 hp johnson 1983 on transom. yes transom good, deck at cooler seat soft then down alongside center console is being replaced 2/3 done starboard side then done. Im more of a cruiser than a fisherman but hey its Fla, many different styles of recreation. God bless all BWP

not to worry. many of us are on the slow-resto plan.....you're just honest enough to acknowledge it in the title line! let's see some pics though.

i'm a little curious on why you seem to be doing the floor in sections. is the boat still operative while you're restoring it? otherwise it seems it would be a little easier to do it all at once.....i do understand the paycheck-at-a-time plan, tho.

Re: Bluewater 180 1988 slow restoration

Here goes, I cut into deck until i got to solid glass and wood. sealed wood edges and then then laminated between lower gunnels and top of stringers, I was able to do section at a time. 5/8 divinycell was wrapped in 1708 biax and epoxied. Each piece covers half of stringer and is very strong and light, Its not a bad way to concetrate and be thorough when done. Pictures will explain way better than I am capable of. When i figure it out they will be posted. God Bless BWP.

Create an account on photobucket.com and link to your pictures there. Way easier than dealing with trying to upload them to iboats.

Re: Bluewater 180 1988 slow restoration

good news I just my 90 johnson v4 tlcte running tonight on stand, water coming from strange place at top of lower unit mounting, will ask some mechanics tomorrow at work. First major project on boat in a while, thanks for everyones input on my Starcraft project. If i could find my earlier picture card I would show what boat looked like when I first received it. if anyone is curious on how I acquired boat I will explain further in a pm. Its extremely interesting and I want to tell how it came about, please ask. thanks BWP

water coming from strange place at top of lower unit mounting

Probably not an issue. The "joint" between the lower and the mid isn't watertight and water will spit out of a number of areas.
