Boat Alarm / Security?

Hi!

I just dropped my boat at a local marina close to my house, seems like there's no major gate or guard looking over the boats, many teenagers hanging out in the area and no guard dog or anything of the sort...

This being my first boat and years of saving even though it's only a 17' used Glastron, I'm wondering if there are security measures to prevent vandalism or theft? Seems like it's way easy to untie and let loose, 2 minutes and the boat is gone..lol

Your suggestions are well appreciated!

There are not many ways to prevent vandalism. A buddy of mine bought several of the fake cameras that has a blinking light on it. It has done wonders to keep folks away from admiring his boat.

If someone wants it, they will get it. A friend of mine had his rig chained to a lamp post in the parking lot of the apartment where he lived. He had a spring leaf cut to fit in the wheel slot and padlocked. They cut the chain and dragged the rig down the street for many blocks (where are the police when you need them), finally into an alley where the spring leaf was removed and the rest is history.

Most thieves are opportunistic, which means the more road blocks you put in their way the less chance of something goes disappearing. Never leave anything of value on the boat. We have issues here of big CC's being stolen to run to Cuba and pick up high paying Cubans and dropping them off on our beaches, many of those boats have gotten tracking devices and alarm systems on them now.
