I just bought a 12' Alumacraft 1968 in great shape, Here is the question the capacity says 685# how concerned should I be that the total weight with me and my brother is 525#

I guess what Iam asking what does the boat capacity mean.

Re: Boat Capacity

That is the legal capacity limit on your boat. If it is just you and your brother you should be fine because I doubt you will fit 160lbs of fuel and gear on that particular boat.

Re: Boat Capacity

WOw that is a real important tidbit,

Thanks

I should have assumed this since the manufacturer has no idea what motor you will be using when they build the boat.

Re: Boat Capacity

So you MAY be close to the extra 160 lbs of wiggle room you have.

The engine may wiegh about 20- 40 pounds. Any batteries will weigh about 50 lbs.

Gas may weight 20.

A 12' boat is only good for fishing.By the time you get 2 guys and all thier gear you have already exceeded the limits, lol.Don't get crazy and have fun.
