Boat Carb Help, Please

Guys, I have a Mercruiser 260 with a carb. that I need help identifying. The tag on the carb. has Mercruiser 260 1347-9662.
The boat cranks but now runs really rough and will cut off and acts like it is getting to much fuel. When it is running I can see gas dripping in the throat from 2 jets and when I give it more throttle, I can see a spray from the other two; but when I do this it runs more rough and cuts off.
I imagine it is time for a rebuild and this is what I need help with.
(1) What kind of carb. is it?
(2) What rebuild kit do I need?
(3) Where are the air/fuel mixture screws located?

Sorry for so many questions; but I am a rookie when it comes to these carbs.

Thanks for the help...Boat carb1.jpg

Rochester Quardajet
Very common, you will have no problem getting a kit.
That little blue metal tag identifies the carb specifically.
Air mixtures screws are in front near the borrom.

So does this number: 1347-9662, identify it as a Rochester Quadrajet and do I use this number to get the rebuild kit?
On the air mixture screws, are they recessed and which is which?

Thanks again

Just one more thing: This is on a 1987 boat; is this a computer controlled carburator? I have been researching Rochesters and there are different versions.
Thanks again

Nope,...

No 'puters on 1987 Mercruisers...

Yes. 1347-9662 is the OE number - a Mercruiser number.
Sierra is a popular manufacturer and that number can be used to cross match.
The kit probably runs around $20.
There are two air mixture screws which you will find more easily upon removing the carb. Each mixture screw is an adjustment for each (independent) primary circuit. After rebuilding, seat them, then back out two turns. This should put you in the ballpark but will require further adjustment.
They're not recessed but can be hard to see depending on what's in front of the carb.

The number on the tag is a Mercruiser part number...
If this is what you are looking for, then the part number for that is -823426A1
and is $26.74 from www.mercruiserparts.com

Re: Boat Carb Help, Please

I just replaced the Quadrajet on my 1982 Merc 305. I had thought about rebuilding it, and have rebuilt many, but mine had wear on the throttle plate and shaft. I found a factory rebuilt carbs on eBay for $255 and put one on and really runs great. This carbs are not an easy build for the novice but can be done if you pay attention to the details. Make sure your floats are good and check valve balls go back into the correct spot. Clean all passages well. You may just need new float, or metering rod adj. etc. Best of luck!
