I have a 2003 Sylvan 1600 Expedition Sport (Fish and Ski). It's always been tail heavy just the way it's designed especially with the heavy fold down seat in the rear. The battery compartment is also back there with two batteries. I was able to improve the performance significantly with Smart tabs thanks to the info others posted on this site. I was thinking about moving the batteries up to the front right storage compartment. Would this adversely affect performance?

Re: Boat CG

it would help with load distribution, increase the size of the wires according to the additional distance. use as few connection points as possible.

Re: Boat CG

Performance is usually best with the boat trimmed out to just where she'll start to porpoise at WOT and then control that with the Smart Tabs. What I do with all of my boats is I play with weight shifting fore and aft until I can use all of my available trim at WOT and no tabs, again, I want her to just start to porpoise there. Then add the tabs back in. In your case, manually pull up your tabs, and do the above. If moving your batteries forward causes the prop to begin to blow out before you can get the bow up, then you have hurt performance.
