hi,

I'm at the stage in my restoration where i need to start thinking about colours for my boat. It's a 14ft ski boat (fletcher) that currently is blue on top and white hull. My problem is that i'm completely un-artistic and have waht you may call painters block because I cannot think of how to "pimp my boat" in any sense using colours.

Is there a site out there that may give me some idea of what my boat will look like in various colours ??

Since you are from Ireland, colors may not be that important. Down here in Texas, the summers get really hot and a dark deck in the afternoon can be more than uncomfortable. If you try to sit on the side of the boat with just a swimsuit on it will burn your legs, especially for the fair haired sex. BTDT

In Ireland it may be a lot cooler and not that much of a problem.

Other thing is lighter colors don't show dirt and scum as well so you don't need to wash her up as often to keep her looking pristine.

In short, pastels, then whatever color (colour) suits you. Blues/cremes/greens are easy going colors. If you want something wild then red/orange/yellow....

Do lots of google image searches for similar looking boats. Alternatively, find someone proficient in photoshop, and give them a picture of your boat. Or, as I would do, go old tech and take a few pictures, then sit down with sharpies and doodle until you find one that looks good.

Thanks for that folks,

all boats I've looked of a similar type are all reds and blues and whites , too common.

as Texasmark points out colours that attract heat aren't an issue here (unfortunately) ,

i'm leaning towards orange/red with some nice design between hull and top cap and with matching upholstery, so maybe sharpies and a few beers are the way to go.

But if anyone can even toss a simply design or logo my way it'd help as I really haven't an artistic imagination when it comes to design the side or bow of the boat

many thanks.

Don S , you're too kind but, red is a standard colour for these boats and purple is the color of a local waste collection company so that is a no no.. do it in yellow just to humour me;);)

thx
