I just purchased a 2004 SeaRay Sundeck and need to obtain a boat cover. Any recommendations or suggestions to assist with my search? I appreciate any help.

Re: boat cover help

I purchased one of the semi-custom shark skin covers from here on i-Boats and it is excellent. It is a fitted cover that fits perfect. I HIGHLY recommend them. Worth every penny.

Re: boat cover help

Contacted Iboats about either the Hurricane Sharkskin or Sunbrella cover. They recommended the Sunbrella because it breaths better and lasts longer than the Sharkskin. My boat will be left outside all year so the cover will be very important. The problem with the Sunbrella is that it is 2X more expensive.

Does anyone have experience with the Sunbrella to know if it is worth the extra expense?

I have been very happy with Attwood's DuraVent covers.

Sunbrella is excellent.

Had a cover custom made for a boat about 7-8 years ago. It sat out all summer for those years and still keeps the water out. It has been repaired a couple of times. It is worth it.

Re: boat cover help

Thanks for the input. Even though the sunbrella is $672 versus $382 for the sharkskin for my boat, I guess it is worth the added protection. I just wanted to get some actual user viewpoints prior to making a purchase. I did order samples, but the West Marine in my area is out of stock on all sunbrellas. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing.

Re: boat cover help

Your boat will love you for your decision! Sharkskin is OK, but it doesn't breathe. Boats get wet, and in order to dry with the cover on, the cover has to breathe. I rotted my seats out in my old boat by not having a breathable cover. Look at it this way wildcat1, you can spend the extra 300 now for a cover, or a lot more in a few years to replace rotting wood inside your boat. Did you check the price for your cover here on iboats? They are the cheapest for my new boat.

My local shop will custom make a Sunbrella for $700. You may want to check into that vs. getting a generic one for the same price. It would be nice to have a good fit to use it for trailering as well.

Not sure if you thought about Overtons but if not keep looking............

About two months ago I purchased one of their exclusive best covers (Titan) with a 6 year warranty. I opted for the better cover with expectations of good quality and service.

BUT

A week after I had it one of the plastic buckles broke off. I immediately put a call into Overtons to inquire about a replacement buckle and they informed me that they are unable to send me replacements but offered to SELL me a replacement tie down kit.

This past weekend two more buckles broke and I would anticipate at the rate they are breaking, they should all be broken by the end of the summer.

Kevin
