boat cover ruined???

My cover had a lot of mildew on the underside after this past winter and I finally got around to cleaning it. Lysol mildew cleaner worked great but after our first rain in a long time I found that the cover no longer repels water. Did I ruin it or does anyone know of something I can use to get it "working" again?

I would not think you ruined it.just washed the repellent off.
check at a camping equipment store or a marine supply and they will have
stuff to either spray or brush on to put the repellency back.

You may check walmart in the camping section. They usually have some spray waterproofing for tents that works pretty well.I think its a 3M product..
Get about 4 cans and soak the cover good..;)

Like others have said; 3M makes a spray on repellant for fabric. I've seen it advertised for furniture, but I'm sure they have the same stuff, different label, in the camping section.

I have used Scotchguard and for me it was not effective. Go to a camping place.

I've used both the aeosol and brush on water repellants. Lately, I've been buying the stuff at WM in their camping section- aerosol cans of Camp Dry IIRC. It has an orange cap. I apply it every year in the fall as my boats sit outside year round and can get a foot or more of snow on them. The trouble with the aerosol cans is you have to apply in little to no wind and make sure you actually soak the canvas. The brush on cans are easier to get good coverage but are more labor intensive with the brushing required. I've only found the cans of liquid repellant at camping stores around here.
