Does someone make a cover that will fit a boat that has a trolling motor mount installed?
I bought a 1996 bayliner bowrider and I don't know if the mount was factory installed or done by the previous owner. Off the rack (Wal-Mart) covers aren't doing it.
First one I got was the cheapest....that lasted 6 months.
Second one was the most expensive....cover lasted 18 months but tie down webbing only lasted 9 months.

I'm pretty much at the point that cost is not so much of an option if I can get something good that will actually fit, not hold water every time it rains, and...would having it last be too much to ask? ;-)

Re: boat cover

Anytime there is something that sticks up or causes a bulge in a boat cover, that's a potential point of failure. To get the most mileage out of your cover I would suggest you install a quick release plate for the trolling motor and put it inside the boat when traveling or anytime the cover is installed. The very best cover is one that is custom made specifically for your boat. Generic covers generally "flap" themselves to shreds simply because they don't fit well. I also suggest for your next cover that you visit a tarp/awning/canvas shop in your area. Most of them will make a custom cover for you. You have to leave the boat there but when finished, the cover will be made to your specs and you can point out the areas you want reinforced. As you found out, you probably already spent enough to cover the cost of one custom cover. A few of us make our own covers. It takes time, careful measuring, quality materials, the ability to sew, and a sewing machine that can handle the job.
