Boat Cover?

I just recently purchased a 2005 Proline Center console fishing boat - with a Mercury 115 HP outboard.
I got a cover for the entire boat, as well as the outboard motor.

I have the boat stored in Bradenton, Florida and we will be returning to Massachusetts for the Summer shortly - we most probably won't be back down until maybe December.

I've had several people tell me that there can be problems leaving a boat covered in Florida heat/humidity??
In my mind, it's certainly better to keep the boat covered for the finish....the seats...etc...

Any opinions??

Also I intend to put Stabilizer in the gas and disconnect the batteries.....

Any other pointers I might do for storage for the Summer heat??

Thanks,

Rick

Re: Boat Cover?

ventilation is the main concern. air has to be able to circulate. if not you will have a mildewed mess.

you will get a black mildew that will be impossible to remove even with chlorine. Like TD said try ventilating one side at least, my boats sit under 10'x20' canopies so that they are out of the sun but air can move. Also make sure you use marine Stabil and you run the boat with it in the tank so it gets thru the whole fuel system before you store it.

What's the difference between marine StaBil and regular off the shelf stabil? I didn't know there was different versions of it.

the blue stabil is designed to cope with ethanol issues.

Confusious say, man who buys cheap cover doomed to buy many more! :D

Seriously though, buy a good cover and if it does not have mesh vents, take it to any good sail shop and they will sew them in for you.
