Just wondering if anybody knows a good brand of boat cover or what to get. I have a baja outlaw 20 and I know Westland makes a custom cover for over $300 and semi custom ones aren't much cheaper. I just need a decent waterproof cover. Greatlakesskipper.com has a custom "shipping" cover whatever that means for around $165. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Boat cover

I got one on ebay for $90 and it stood one winter (so far) outside in Canada water tight and tough too. Covered in snow and ice for most of four months and never wet through.

Re: Boat cover

I bought mine at Wallyworld , its made by Attwood. I bought it online from Wally , and had it delivered to my local WW. They only stock the cheap ones in-store , but sell the better ones online. Mine will cover up to a 23' boat ( my boat is 20' ) and will cover my outboard aswell. It sheds water from the windshield to the stern all by itself. I have a few beach balls proping the bow area. It is trailerable (SAYS SO ON THE BOX..LOL).It withstood a WET 28" snow this past winter along with quite a few 6" to 8" snows. I am pretty happy with it.I paid $160.00 for it.

Custom Canvas in Upland (southern cal) will make you a custom made "towable" cover with inner sock (to protect your paint) for right around $1200. If you want multiple colors it costs more. This price is for a boat in the 18 to 21 foot range.

Re: Boat cover

The cheaper covers ($100-$200) last 2 or 3 years down here. I went through a lot of them.

Several years ago I bought an '87 Searay that had the original Sunbrella bimini, enclosure and cockpit cover. Still looks new after 24 years. Impressed me enough that I went out and bought one of the Westland custom Sunbrella covers for my Crownline ($600). Best thing I ever did. Keeps all the rain out, but let's it breathe so it doesn't get mildewy over the winter. Used to take me a whole day to clean the mildew off, haven't had to touch it since I went to the Sunbrella cover. It also still looks new at 3 years old.

If you intend to keep the boat for many years, get a good cover. If you plan to move to another boat in a year or two, maybe one of the cheaper ones would make more sense.
