I'm thinking about getting a cover like this for my boat, for the winter. (the top one with the 7 year warranty). Is a cover like this good for the winter & snow? Is it waterproof? Occasionally I need to keep the boat dry after working on it.
AND yes I will be supporting the cover when I wrap it for the winter. I have a wooden frame I've been using for a few years with tarps, but tarps suck. One of these covers costs about the same as shrink wrapping, that would save a ton of money. Plus if it's easy enough to put on, I might use it in the fall too to keep the leaves and crap out. But the primary purpose would be to cover it for the winter.

Also, subtopic:
I was thinking about replacing my heavy 'tent' frame (made of solid 2x4's) with something made from much thinner PVC piping. But while I was thinking about that, I had another interesting idea. What if I get a pair of pool baloons!? The kind you put in your pool before you cover it! A pair of those under a cover will keep the snow shedding right off. I assume they're cheaper than building a PVC tent frame for my boat, and best of all, come spring, I can just deflate them. No sticking the huge frame behind the shed where it gets in the way all the time.

Re: Boat Covers

hi after many boat covers and they dont last very long for the price and eventually leak i just got and tired of it. bought some large cheap blue tarps and a big roll of black plastic used for ground barrier under home etc from home depot cover the boat with the tarps with bungy cords then cut off 24 ft of the plastic on top the tarps, totally water proof, but used duck tape to hold plastic wrapping tape around the front on trailer frame and each rear side to hold it in place. so far used it 6 yrs and still good. and boatis bone dry inside..
