I have a 1977 starcraft. I just acquired. The center of the deck is soft. I weight in at 275lbs and can walk on it, but I feel a soft spot. If I should replace what do I use? The floor is covered with a rug of sort. Is it simple enough where I just pull the floor and replace with a piece of plywood? Or is their more to it then just that? It has been in the weather for a few years uncover.

Starcrafts of that vintage are famous for that. Pull a few pieces of the deck...... sorry but the carpet is going away first. Get beneath the floor and see what other problems have been brewing and are covered.

Flotation foam soaked? Stringer's rotted? Is it just an isolated spot?

Once you determine the answers you will replace the plywood with the same thickness that is there. Of course it will be a better grade and sealed from the elements.

You really need to operate a bit ...... then we will go to what is next. Do a search in this forum for replacing the floor/deck.

Smells like a deck rebuild
