Hello. I was looking for information on boat enclosures with bimini tops but I can't find any approximate prices. Does anyone have any experience installating a bimini top or enclosure? How much would it cost for a 27' boat with 10' beam. Is there any way to save on the enclosure by ordering parts yourself? I am on a budget I'm afraid.

Thanks for any suggestions

I doubt you'll find an off-the-shelf bimini setup that'll work, and I am certain that unless you go to the manufacturer of your boat, you won't find an off-the-shelf enclosure. Best bet is to call a local canvas shop. They do this work all the time. Might get a dsicount if you have the work done over the Winter.

i was also on a budget when i was looking for a bimini.the least expensive way i found was i bought a binimi the width and length i wanted then i custimized it by chopping it down 2 feet.it was a 4 bow for a open boat but i had enough length to play around with it to fit my 16 ft runabout.i may even try to close in the front this winter.i'll try to send picture

I just got quoted $4,000 for adding an isenglas enclosure to an existing custom-made bimini. The enclosure is for the flybridge -- an area about 10 x 10 feet. I'm told the price drops in half during the off-season.

Sounds like what you're talking about is a "camper enclosure" for your boat. If you're on a budget you can probably forget about it (unless it's a BIG budget I guess ....). They typically sell for $1500 to $4000. Great Lakes Canvas makes a lot of them for the manufacturers. They may have one available for your boat, their website is

Re: Boat enclosure with bimini

Thanks for the input. I've decided to go with the bimini from boatarama. Ordered 8' x 91-96" x 54" one. Once I get it installed I want to make my own enclosure with plexiglass sheets in front and a no-seeum screen with sunbrella sheet on the back, perhaps slanted or buggy style if the bimini reaches back far enough.

Has anyone ever done this? If it works out it should cost me at best $300 for the bimini and another $300-400 for the enclosure

Where are you located? I have an enclosure the size your looking at that I've decided not to use.

OK I've installed the bimini... took me 2 hours by myself but whatever, its up now. Ordered all the materials for the enclosure... 40 gauge plastic roll.. Sunbrella fabric.. fasteners. I was wondering - whats the best way to attach plastic sheet to the Sunbrella? If I was to stitch it, would it leak water? I could just add fasteners to the plastic and studs to the frame of the bimini.

Does anyone have any experience building their own bimini enclosure? I don't really wanna stitch onto the bimini top, it would probably leak water and lose its integrity. What are your thoughts?

Ok so I finished building the enclosure for the bimini. Took me a while working on this thing on evenings and without a sewing machine, but its done. My question is, do you guys run with enclosure on or you take off the panels? I am concerned about exhaust and carbon monoxide gas.

I've run with my camper enclosure up without any problems. Also when i did the back peices. I sewed the clear vinyl onto the sunbrella fabric. No major water leaks

Cronx, I am about to tackle the same project. What type of fasteners did you use and how did you attach them? Did you use zippers, snaps, etc? How did you attach the sunbrella to the clear windows? Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated, having a hard time finding out info on the topic. Thanks

My enclosure goes on first of October and gets taken off the first of May. Probably 120 hours of run time and 2000 miles of road time in between.
