boat engine temperture

Boat was running about 120 in temperature always. i read that 160 was normal. so we figured out my thermostat was bad so i changed it.

So now the boat gets to 160 in a about 10 minutes but got up to 170 about 15 minutes.

This was done with the muffs on. So Plan on taking it out today. What temperatures should I be seeing? What is the hottest it should get?

Its a Mercruiser 4.3 generation 2.

Ayuh,.... Anywhere 'tween those 2 numbers.....

They normally run around 170? under load when using a 160? thermostat.

Hitting around 160 and up to the high 170's. Engine seem to be running good.
