Re: boat floor

You can do that if you want. Is the boat a bowrider? If it is, the bow seating area is usually molded as a single unit with the entire top. The floor of the seating area may be sitting on the main foor of the boat, and if your final floor height is too high, the top won't go back onto the hull properly. If it isn't a bowrider, the you can do what you propose, you'll just have a higher floor. Good luck and post some pics...

yes it is a bowrider,i wanted to ask how are the back to back seats mounted to the main floor,i mean the square boxes that the seats sit on?i see fiberglass curving up to the sides of the boxes.i want to remove these boxes so i can remove all of the main floor insted of leaving them there.after the floor is done i will buy new back to back seats that allready have the complete frame built on them.thanks

Re: boat floor

Brad those seats are fiberglassed all the way around on the floor & up the sides. There is foam underneath them which is also stuck to the floor(1987 model capri).I used a 4 inch grinder to remove mine. Take your time & know what your are grinding, above the floor line is nothing but fiberglass hull, you dont wanna cut through that, the foam i used the claw end of a hammer to pull it out. I put pedstal seats back in mine , more room & sits up higher so i can see where i am going better.
