boat getting no fire at all

Hi, 86 model 115 evinrude v4 , i cant get it to recieve no fire at all. i changed the key switch, i changed plugs, wires, gas, and still no fire. someone told me to take off the flywheel and there is some magnets under there that are responsible for throwing spark and causes ignightion, is this true, help me please b4 i tear intp the motor. could it be something simpler than this. thanx for all ur help.

FIRST I WOULD UNPLUG THE KILL WIRES LOCATED ON THE POWER PACK OR PACKS. IT WILL BE A BLACK WIRE WITH A YELLOW STRIPE . THEN CHECK YOUR FIRE AGAIN.BUT KEEP IN MIND IF THIS DOES MAKE THE MOTOR FIRE IT WILL START BUT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHUT IT OFF.MOST OF THE TIME WITH THESE ENGINES WOULD NOT FIRE IT WAS THE POWER PACK THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM BUT YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF TO DO SOME TEST AND BE SURE FIRST.REPLACING PARTS TO FIND THE PROBLEM CAN GET EXPENSIVE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE IGNITION SYSTEM EITHER INVEST IN A FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL OR TAKE IT TO A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT .ONE MORE THING ACCORDING TO MY RECORDS OMC DID NOT MAKE A 115 IN 1986. SO YOU MAY WANT TO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR YEAR MOEL BEFORE YOU GO TO MUCH FURTHER.

texas_angler,<br /><br />Simple things. Is the kill lanyard hooked up to your control box? Take off the clip that holds the kill button down and hold the button down manually. I have had these switches go bad on me more than once. They tend to fail on the "safe" side. Any fire?<br /><br />Check all the conections under the cowl. THere is at least one fuse under there. They are small and are in barrel type connectors. Did you disconnect that battery before you changed the ignition switch? If not, I'll bet you blew a fuse.<br /><br />Did you get the correct ignition switch? <br /><br />Keep us posted.
