I did not get an owner's manual with my boat and it was already on the water the frist time I heard it running. It runs great, but after sitting all week when I go out on the weekend it is very hard to start the first time. After that it starts right up. I have tried giving it gas in neuetral and I have tried not moving the throttle at all and neither one seems to work.
One problem is I have trouble hearing whether it is running or not when I try to start it at the crowded loading/unloading area. What I did last weekend was put the muffs on it and started in the back yard for a few minutes before going to the lake. It started right up at the lake, but I had to crank it a good while in the backyard to get it started initially. I revved it very little in neutral while on the muffs, no more than 1500 rpms.
Is there a trick to starting them the first time? Does it just need a tuneup? If so, is there a certain type of spark plug and wires I should use? I have never cranked it to where I ran the batteries down, but it just seems to take too long to start. It does not have a choke does it? I sure don't see one.
