That's putting the boat and trailer on another trailer, right? I wouldn't do it for that without a back-haul.

Not quite sure of the previous post?? Trailer on another trailer????...Must be a newbie's post...

But $3000.00 is probably a fair deal. That's a long haul and gas/diesel isn't going down.

kfraser, you are the newbie, and 198 posts doesn't make you a genius, but I digress. I wouldn't begin to tow a strange trailer the distance involved, and for only $3K, I wouldn't overhaul a trailer and then tow it from Fl to Ca. Trailers in general, and especially salt water used trailers can be a real pita. That is why I'd put the boat and trailer on a real trailer.

the idea of having one shipped is, #1 i don't have to pull it. #2 don't want the wear an tear on my trailer and boat. #3 don have to worry about something being stolen while in the motel. you put it on a flat bed or even a box trailer and haul it.

Wow, I got spanked.... Just realized it... So...here's my response...

I wouldn't haul a strange trailer either..until I checked it..and if it passed......

Here's the deal... If the ******* trailer works, use it. If it doesn't work...Don't buy it!!! ! wouldn't buy a travel trailer and have it shipped back to me on another trailer. On no...we dont want to put miles on a trailer that was designed to have miles put on it....lol...??? Or am I wrong? Are boat trailers only designed for 100 mile use or less....? Do they implode if you go over this? But if you want to trailer a trailer, what happens if the trailer that the trailer is on ...goes belly up....let's call some one to trailer, the trailer and the trailer, and the boat......lol.... Oh well....let's build a sling and haul it back by horse back...lord knows we wouldn't want to USE the trailer that came with it...lol

Heck no...anybody got a train handy...

I welcome all replies!!!!

Mr. kfraser, Don't appreciate the tone. People here are just making suggestions. Maybe you would do things different, so keep it to yourself and go post elsewhere.

Sorry Dave...Just posting my response....Most of the post was directed back at me...

And, I was just stating that if you have a trailer, (Note....he didn't have a trailer to begin with) ... Or from the comment of JRJ2, the second post, ...obtain a trailer, and then get another trailer to trailer that...it just didn't make sense to me...if it does to you....ok...lol

I'm not trying to be a troll, but common sense can be defended...Sorry if it pisses you off....

I just can't see it....Kinda like buying an airplane and having it shipped back instead of .......flying it back...oh..well..

But, I

Or even if he did have a trailer, why would you even consider putting that trailer on a trailer. If the trailer was bad, ..OK..so be it.. Buy a new trailer. Or junk the bad trailer...Why haul it with your boat?....?

Re: boat haulig from florida to san diego california

Kevin, I believe if you reread the original post it states that it is a 21 ft boat with a trailer from Florida to Calif. If I were undertaking this venture not knowing if the bearings are in good shape, how long it has been since they were packed, what shape the brake shoes are in, whether there is rust on the trailer that could cause structual failure, and all of those other things that can go wrong I think I would rather haul it on my trailer that I know is OK to make that trip rather than being broken down in the desert somewhere. It has nothing to do with putting extra miles on the existing trailer. Also if you are a hauler and get to Calif with this rig you have a much better chance of getting a return load to haul back to Florida so you don't "dead head" back at your own expense. These forums are for people seeking information and there are a bunch of people from all different professions that can provide a huge amount of free advise. With your tone on this post and your rant I would be very surprised if anyone wants to reply to anything you post. Feel free to rant all you want but I can assure you I doubt if very many people here care.

Re-read the original post. And I re-read all of the replies.

I guess I just don't take spanking's too well (7&7)...I am sorry if I offended anyone...

The other side of this not considered entirely is from the haulers perspective. Not only could they possibly pick up a load on the backside with their own trailer, they don't have to assume the liability of using an unknown trailer. Even with deadheading back, the reduction in liability alone is worth using your own trailer. If the boat's trailer disintegrates in transit, and jiggy's riggy gets spread out all over the highway, he's going to be looking for a new boat out of the deal...

Re: boat haulig from florida to san diego california

I understand everyone's point of view here. Personally me being me, I would be looking for some added adventure. I would want to know that my trailer is trailerable, and would go through the brakes and bearings to make sure everything is A-OK. I wouldn't want to to a trailer 10 miles that wouldn't make it 100. I would take a couple of weeks to get to Callie (I moved to LA from Nashville in '92 and made a road trip of it) and hit all of the cool lakes and rivers on the way. Get in some boating and camping on the way out and let the movers handle my other stuff. This would be even better than the Grizwalds heading to Wally World!!!

Gee $3000.00 Why not just buy a new trailer and pull it yourself?

A new trailer should do 3000 miles and never even warm the hubs:)

Looks like the only association with Force/Chrysler is the guy wants to move a Bayliner with a Force motor. i agree buy a new trailer and haul it yourself for 3 g's make sure you dont wear your truck out tho! i'd reccomend a transmission service before you make that trex.

Holy moly. Spend $3000 on a new trailer + $1000 in fuel + 6 days driving 12+ hours per day (round trip ~ 5200mi.!) + 5 nights in hotels + food + missed work / wasted vacation days?

No way!
