hi everyone I just purchased a 1989 19' Bluefin (spectrum ) the boat has a 90hp force that is coming off ,but my question is I looked at the very faded hp rating decal and I cant hardly read it ,but I believe it says max hp 85 ,I cant believe a 19 foot aluminum boat with a walk through windshield can only handle a 85hp ,any opinions on this one, I cant seem to find any info anywhere to find what the boat is rated for by the manufacturer ,thank you everyone......

That is the wrong blue fin web site.

The Blue Fin you have, was bought out by Brunswick and was the aluminum version of a Bayliner, same guys running the show.

Yes, it was only rated for 85 hp.

But a year later, the 1990 was rated for 120 hp.
These boats always "looked" the same to me, but there could have been modifications that allowed the higher hp rating.

My '91 Blufin spectrum 1700 is rated for 115 hp, maybe internal mods made the difference as Roscoe mentioned.

yes that Bluefin site is in Australia ,there is no more usa Bluefin contacts available ...so hard to believe that goofy boat is only rated for 85hp ,wow! im amazed my smokercraft 16' is rated for 90hp ...apparently a cheaply built boat ,I was so hoping to put my nice 120hp evinrude looper on it ,oh well ..but I do have a few evi 85hp laying around ,just definitely wont ever sell it with anything bigger than an 85hp to be safe .....I might go bigger while I still own the boat and just plate the back with aluminum like I usually do with older fiberglass boats ..thank you all for the help ...just very happy I didn't pay much for the boat so all is good ,still in shock a 19' boat with that low of a rating ..take care

p.s. I did notice the bayliner engineer thinking when I saw the boat was on a galvanized escort trailer ,it brings back bad memories

NADA guide indicates 85 hp for the 89 1900 series. And the 1700 series are rated for only 50 hp. It is about 300 lbs lighter.than the 900 lb 1900.
