Just purchased this boat was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is or how I can find out. The only thing the previous owner could tell me was that it was a 1974 custom boat. I can not find any tag on the boat.

Very nice looking boat. It dosn't look like anything I've ever seen, except for a few late 60's runabouts that I can't remember the name of. They were very fast and didn't have much deadrise.

Not 100% sure, but think the name of the boats was "Checkmate". Usually had about a 100 HP motor and were used primarily in the rivers around here. They didn't handle the chop in the bays very well.

The boat does hold 4 people and has a 100 johnson on it. The motor is a 1967 model maybe the boat is a 67??? I didn't think the motor was original because he told me the boat was a 1974 and the mount doesn't appear to be original to me.

Re: Boat Identification

Well since it was built in the early years of hull identification numbers..... it may have been attached by a cheap sticky label...... which is probably gone.

Most DMV's can issue Hull Identification Numbers to older boats.
