Boat info from HIN?

Hey Guys,

Just curious if the HIN/HID gives info about a boat's original configuration. With all of the comments about Wellcraft putting a 3.0 in the 21' cuddy, just curious if maybe the original engine was larger.. maybe blown/seized and replaced with the smaller 3.0 out of convenience, stock on hand, etc.

Other than the manufacturer's code, it gives the date the hull was manufactured. . .

That's about it.
