boat is a '77 how can I lube my cables?

I WAS TOLD TO OIL THE CABLES BEING THAT IS WAS KEPT OUTSIDE. CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO DO SO SINCE THEY HAVE A PLASTIC COVER ON THEM?

Replace them......<br />Oiling usually doesn't work....

I don't know if they have them in the boat stores, but in a motorcycle shop, you can buy a gizmo made for shooting lube into the cables. I use it all the time and it works good.
