Boat is DOA after replacing ignition

My boat has no power anywhere after I just replaced my ignition switch. It is an OMC ignition switch for a 1989 Johnson 140 outboard. It was working fine just before the swap as I tilted the motor. I replaced the wires terminal by terminal to ensure that I did not mix anything up. I did not disconnect the battery before doing the work as I suspect I should have and while swapping the switches I think I heard the crackling of electrical current. Have I shorted something out? I checked all fuses on the dash and they are intact. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

YIKES!! Hearing the sounds of electrical current while working is not a good thing , for sure. The best thing is, no fuses were open. I would take the fuse link off of the battery, better late than never, and check the lines from the battery to the switch.
Something is a bit strange....find out what it is.

Ok. So I've deducted that I have power on the leading side of the solenoid switch but not on the back side. I bypassed the switch and got the starter to turn over. The question is, it there a fuse somewhere or has the solenoid switch gone??

I just had the same problem and I found the ground to be the problem. Try running a jumper from the ground side of the solenoid to the battery ground on the motor.

I'm not familiar with your motor but look all around under the hood of your motor, there should be an inline fuse under there somewhere.

Your keyswitch power is protected by the fuse on the motor itself. You probably shorted the power lead to the ground terminal or vise-versa. Remove your motor cover and the fuse I believe is in a red rubber holder.

You blew the fuse on your engine. Under your hood you will see a fuse holder a few inches back of the starter. It will be a short one and i think it is a 30 amp. Just had the same problem on my dads boat.
