boat leaning to left

I didn't know where to post this qestion. My 15ft trihull 70 hp boat leans over to the left at full speed. The trim tab needs to be move to right because the boat pulls to the right. Are these to related in any way? I have 2 gas tanks, one left, one right, cranking battery on right, trolling battery in center, that leaves foot operated trolling motor on the left. I guess the ? is this a weight balance issue or is this the trim tab adjustment? Its just hard to believe the trolling motor is causing this much lean, whitch is level at slow speed.

Re: boat leaning to left

I dont think your steering torque problem is related.
There is a tendency for prop torque to make the port side lower,if the hull has any deformities
it cold cause it.Check it with the boat on a
trailer.
If the boat runs with the bow too low it might try to lean to one side.
A slim possibility would be if the motor has too much in the water. But to be that low it would probably cause spray.
Exanine the boat carefully at rest for any lean to the left you may have to remove tanks etc to
tell.

Re: boat leaning to left

Rosewood
I would adjust your motor trim tab to the right. This will actually push bottom of motor to the left and help to raise port side. Anyway it is a five minute adjustment that can be done on the water so why not give it a try. Note where it is and move a lot to see what difference it can make, then adjust for steering.

If boat is level dead in the water and at slow speed and leans to port at high speed then most likely prop torque from a right hand prop. Any thing on hull that would lift starbord side would do same thing. Are there any big tranducers on starboard side??
Good luck.

Re: boat leaning to left

Thanks guys I will try the trim tab first. The only transducer on starboard side would be the small trolling motor transducer and speedometer pickup. Also I have never really known how to adjust the tilt of the engine, the kind that has to be done manualy. With the boat leaning the way it does, its hard to tell how the bow is riding. How much of the boat sould be in the water at full speed? I guess I've gotta get this leaning issuse solve before I do the tilt thing.

Rosewood
Adjusting the Tilt really depends what you are looking for. Max speed then just the back half of the boat should be in the water. I would adjust trim out until the front comes up then back in one postion. This will not get you max speed. It will stop bow from raising as high as come up on plane, it will keep bow down so cut waves with bow rather than flater aft section.

Please come back to let us know how your port low problem comes out.
