1993 johnson 88 special on a 72 mako 19cc,
my question is, when i am going fast above 4000 rpm, boat leans on port side, i have to move myself to starboard side to compensate.
is there anything that i can adjust to motor, like the lever behind props? it wasn't like this before i had the water pump changed. maybe the guy did not return the lever to its original position.

any input deeply appreciated.....

The trim tab should not affect leaning, since it's just there to help with steering effort. I can't envision anything he may have done changing the water pump that would cause this, unless he moved the motor over, which is very unlikely. Did anything else change-- weight shifted , new prop, whatever?

jack,

could it be the doel fins i installed before the season? as for weight, i moved the heavy stuff to starboard side, but boat still leans.

this only happens on speed at 20 knots plus and 3800 rpm plus. maybe it has something to do with too much tourque by the props. if it does, i guess it is normal then.

My 17' bass boat leans also I always thought it was becuase of the added whieght on that side of the boat you know the battery, the trim motor, the console, tackle storage, anchor, and me.. bUT could I be wrong? also could I move my motor over to compensate? never thought of that but hey sounds like an idea

The prop torque would make it lean to the left, but since it didn't do it before, that leaves the fins as the primary suspect. The important question here is "What changed?" and the fins pop up.

does the boat turn more easily one way if it does move the rear of the trim tab towards the turn once you get the tab set right see if the boat still leans if it does remove the doel fins & see what happens.just a thought is your motor vertical on the transom? If it is leanining even a slight amount with a hydro foil fitted it will cause the boat to lean at high speed.Hope this helps :)

i would adjust the trim tab.. if u dont hold it straight does it try to turn or does it just lean... maybe motors not sitting on transom flat.. but i had the same problem.. if i let go it would crank to the right.. and when i held it it would just lean.. mines a tiller and it was very tiring on the arm until i adjusted the trim tab..
