I have a Naylor 2400Lb boat lift and when lowering the boat into the water, the lift wheel is very stiff/hard to turn.

Just curious if anyone has had a similar issue and if so, how did you rectify the issue?

I assume the brakes are holding up and not releasing and I also assume this is due to corrosion/rust of some sort?

The winch itself looks identical to this one, (below) but my problem is, I have never opened one of these up before so I have no idea what I am up against?

Just curious if there is much to it, what I need to look out for, and can I screw this up if I am not careful?

I have moved the wheel up and down numerous times from real short back and forth bursts to much longer ones but nothing I do is freeing it up.

Re: Boat lift winch brake mechanism sticking.

I assume no one has taken one of these apart before or had issues with one in the past?

Really thought I'd get some info on this but maybe I posted it in the wrong section?

I did talk to Naylor today and in a nut shell, he told me to replace it when I starting talking about it.
Said many get replaced ever year if no mtce has been done for the past few.

If I had of known, it definitely would have received at least some annual mtce.
