i would wonder what HOOPS you will have to jump through to be able put the nessary poles into the ground ?

there are also ones that float and allow a boat to be gotten out of the water with a lot less install problems

What do you mean HOOPS????? Poles in ground?? The boat lifts here in Michigan simplys rest on the bottom with a steel plate 12" x 12" on the bottom of each leg, the weight of the boat and lift keep it resting in place!!

Thats what I was wondering too.
Mooring permits are one thing.
And pier permits are bad enough.
But a permit to put a structure in a navigable waterway would require a miracle around here.

May be easier if this "bay" is a designated mooring area.

Let us know how you make out.

I'm wondering how you'll get electric power 100 yards out to operate the lift.
And certainly it will need some sort of lights so other boaters don't hit it at night.

Does anyone else nearby have a lift 100 yards out into the lake?

The type of lifts we use around here are hand cranked with a big wheel and cables. The lights would be necessary for sure.

Around here (coastal Maine), no problem getting a permit for a float/pier/ramp type dock (where any structure that touches the earth does it out of the water), but if you try to sink any kind of piling into the water anywhere, the US Army Corps of Engineers has to approve it.

Also if he did that in Maine, at low tide his boat would be 15 to 20 feet in the air. :D
