Hello,

My Ownership for my boat says 17.5 feet, but today I decided to measure it to see just exactly what it was, It was only 16 feet. Im quite surprised that it only measured 16 feet because it sure looks bigger than that, in comparison to other boats Ive seen.

Is this normal, or is my ownership wrong?

Re: Boat Measurement

What year, make and model number and how did you measure it? It is certainly possible the title is wrong but the model number will clear that up.

Or the age may have something to do with it. "Back in the day" some boat companies listed "gunnel" length as the length. Today they include the integrated swim platform.

Re: Boat Measurement

Is not unusual for manufacturers to mark a boat as 17 when it is less than that.

Re: Boat Measurement

My 94 gw invader was a 180 and was almost 18', but that included almost a 2' swim platform. When I was looking at new boats last year a lot of the boats length included the platform.

Re: Boat Measurement

Would it be that they measured from bow to the engine if it's an outboard?

Re: Boat Measurement

there is a lot of discrepences, some measure bow to stern, some around the outside of the boat bow to stern. there needs to be a standard, as there is with HP of outboards.

if you measured to the end of the outboard it would be near 17.5 feet. maybe thats what they did

anyways, i was just curious more than anything, I still like my Peter(borough) even if it is a little short :p

lol jk, seriously though, for only being 16 feet she sure handles Lake Erie well.
