boat motor cover weatherstrip seal ?

anyone know where to get the weatherstriping that raps around the motor cover of a 71 evenrude 25hp, I know its old but i just recondiction the motor and painted the cover, the old rubber seal was stapled on with heavy gauge staples,I took a peace of it to a couple of local marine places and had no luck N/A .<br />any thoughts would be appreciated

Yea, it's going to be dificult to find that new. You might locate a used one in a boat yard.<br />Or try an appliance shop that sells refrigerator door seals. you may find a door gasket that comes close enough to serve very well as a bonnet gasket.

And to fasten it,try using an adhesive such as 3M Weatherstrip and auto trim adhesive..That stuff is tuff as nails.

Fishman66 ,This site lists the motor cover gasket back to 1980.I think it is maybe just the material as 1980-1999 lists the same P/N for the gasket on 25 hp models.<br /><br />www.boaterssupply.com<br /><br />here's a pic <br /><br />1980 25hp motor cover
