Has anyone been able to produce these at home on home computer/printers? I know that there are many companies that produce these, but I also know some of them are very small operations and I figure that I may able to produce the decal for my boat.

Thanks

you would need to purchase a vinyl cutter to connect to your computer, and have the proper software to create the vector based graphics. They're pretty expensive. I'd say it's cost prohibitive unless you were going into the vinyl business.

Try graphxonline.com. Sorry, I can't post links here, so you'll have to add the www.

They have an online design tool that lets you design your own lettering, using lots of fonts, ect. Once you're happy, you order and they cut it and ship it to you.

Pretty cool.

Another method is to take a digital picture of the emblem/graphic. Then pick up some injet bumper sticker paper. There are a number of companies that make this now, and you can usually find it at the office supply stores. Then print your graphic on the bumper sticker paper. Its permanent and once dry, waterproof.

For my Sea Star I went with vinyl for the new emblems. One of the plastic ones was good so I scanned it into my computer and redrew it with Adobe Illustrator. Then I went thru Signs by You to get a set made. They have an online preview that allows you to upload a variety of graphic file types, including Illustrator files. Here's how it came out.
