I am rigging a new ranger 618vs and need to put on the reg. #'s. I have not found any to match the boat, only mailbox #'s. Any ideas

self-adhesive vinyl letters/numbers? that is what i think i am going with for the spring. I/you will have to contact someone who does signs or graphics or auto and boat detailing. good luck

Internet is full of them of any color and very inexpensive. I have bought a lot of them for Boats which have UV protection and held up well. Look under boat registration letters on E-Bay. I got some really nice ones there.

Marine stores (West Marine, Overtons, BPS, etc) have kits. Also, Walmart around here has some basic looking ones in their boat section. When picking them out (at least for Georgia), they must be minimum of 3", block letters, and in a contrast color.

The Wal-mart here has some decorative numbers in different colors that look pretty good. For the 3" block, regulation black numbers try a marine supplier.

Musky3,

Local sign stores (FastSigns, Signsnow etc..) often have a wide variety of choices of colors and fonts. Many will include instuctions on how to install properly. Should be around $20 for both sides.

SS182

Musky
Try Home depot, Lowe's, West Marine, Local Hardware store, Craft store or even many office supply stores. Letters must be at least 3 inch block and a contrasting color. I got a three inch vinyl letter and number set for under $5 and have done 3 boats with them and been on boats since 1980. Must leave a 3 inch space between your state prefix and also the two letter suffex. You can also paint them on if you prefer.

SS 182 got it right. If you go to good sign shop they can hook you up. When you go take a picture of your boat and the shop will have tons of choices for you. They can make them any size you need. It may take a day or so if they're busy but when you see how sharp they look on your boat it will the worth the $20 or so you spend. They can also give you tips on preparing your boat for the
#s to make them last.

Dutch

One other tip...I'm looking for a sign shop (not a lot of them in rural GA) to do a name and better looking reg. numbers. I want the red to match as best possible the red on the boat (name & numbers will go on biege part of hull). I went to Home Depot and picked out several paint chips, took them home and matched to the red best I could. I then had something to take to sign shops to match to their vinyl.

Re: boat numbers/letters

I have a little aluminum boat, and I wanted to name her. My wife came up with a style I liked. She sketched it out on the back of a return reply advertising postcard. I FAXed it to this guy. Lazer Graphics came up with the custom color I wanted. He basically threw in the state numbers in the same color for free. The cost was marginally more than West Marine. They gave me back my money for their stick on block black letters. I couldn't be happier. He applied them for free. I don't remember his name, but I have his card. lazergraphics@MSN.com
His phone # is 727-392-9342.

I hope the moderators don't get upset with this, I am just very pleased with my experience. That doesn't happen too often in todays world. Check him out.

Before you go out and buy some, here is a good link to the rquirements for the USCG and fits most states too. http://propcops.com/index.php?topic=10.0 In a nutshell, they have to be block, solid color and a couple other things. I see many with fancy numbers or more than one color....
