I just purchased a 1988, 16' Smokercraft Challenger, aluminum fishing/pleasure boat. I bought it from a friend going through a divorce. I was trying to do him a favor. The price we agreed on is $1,500.00. The boat needs some TLC, (faded carpet, some rust, but everything works ok. It has a 1988, 70 horse Evinrude,(low hours) with power-trim, depth finder, bimini top, bow cover, skiis, ladder, etc., and a Sterling trailer. Question? What is a fair price. I don't want either of us to feel like we are getting the short end of the stick. I live in upstate NY. Finger Lakes region. Thanks for your help!!

Re: boat price help

fair really depends on the overall condition of the boat, motor and trailer which we cant see

fair is also a very local thing prices vary widely in different parts of the country

so it really comes down to what other boats like it are selling for in your area

tommays

Re: boat price help

Sounds like a heck of a good deal to me if the boat is in decent condition. Boats here in my area seem to go for pretty good money.

As tommays said... it depends on the overall condition, and do you think it is worth the price.
