boat pulls right

I have pontoon boat with 92 90HP Force. Boat was pulling fairly good to the right. I checked the exhaust/trim tab on the motor and it was all the way to the right(if you are facing the boat from the back). would this make the boat pull right or left?

Should I push it all the way to the left(again if you were facing the boat from the back)

Skeg does not look bent

motor might lean VERY slightly to the left but I can say for sure on the trailer. Is there a way to check if the motor is perfectly level on a trailer?

thanks

Re: boat pulls right

If the boat pulls right, the back of the trim tab should be moved to the right, as it is.

Is this a new problem that just reared its ugly head?

Thanks Roscoe,

I'll put it all the way right and see what happens.

It has always been kind of an issue but seems worse now.

Anything else you can think of to try?

Like I said the Skeg looks fine. I have to hold the wheel(with some pressure, more than just slight pressure) to keep her straight

If the boat pulls to the right and trim tab is all the way to the right, doesn't that mena that the trim tab is the problem???

Wouldn't you want to center it more to make the boat go in a straight line??

Nope, moving the trim tab to the right pushes the motor to the left offsetting the right hand torque pull.
Roscoe's post is spot on

Re: boat pulls right

I wonder if it isn't a pontoon/boat problem.

Don't know what your rig is like, but could be a bend in the keel of one of the logs.
Or one of them may be mounted on an angle.

Or water in one?

If you can't find the cause, you might try making a small adjustable keel/rudder, and attach it to the bottom rear of one of the logs.

I was afraid you might ask about the boat/pontoon. I don't think it water in one. I'll do some more checking on that.

I assume if I attach a keel/rudder to the back of the log it should aim left(opposite of the exhaust/trim tab) correct?

Thanks

Re: boat pulls right

Just as a hijack,
my single hulled boat also pulls and is biased one way (Force 1989 85 Hp) and i don't have a directional trim tab, but i do have Morse steering. I've noticed that this doesn't move equally as far in left and right directions.
Questions are:
should boat steering behave like car steering and settle to straight ahead when letting go of the wheel?

does the Morse system have "force feedback" or should i feel the same resistance at all rotations of the wheel?

I know this isn't necessarily Force related but Morse, sorry
thanks
