In August we rented a condo with a boat slip at 123rd St. in OC. Where's the best place to put into the bay nearest to there? Also, what restaurants can you boat to? The only one I know of for sure is Harpoon Hannah's.

87TH STREET -- Bering Road, bayside, Ocean City

ASSATEAGUE ISLAND STATE PARK -- Improved ramp on Route 611 entering park.

GUM POINT ROAD -- Off Route 589, West Ocean City

These are the three I found. I have not been to the ocean in a couple years. I just googled and this is what I found.

We were down to OC a few weeks ago without the boat. we stayed at 127st. I seen ramps on 26th next to the park. Not sure what that is about. I work with the owner of the condo we stayed in. I will pick her brains for local ramps tomorrow. Do you have a place to park the trailer?

Denny you seem to have all the answers for me on boating destinations! I don't have a set place for the trailer yet. I read that there is trailer storage for a fee in a municipal lot at 100th St. If the fee is cheap I'll leave it there. If it isn't, our condo comes with 2 parking spots. I'll use one for our car and the other for the trailer and my truck can find street parking somewhere. As of now I plan on using that 87th street public ramp. When I was little and we took my dads boat we paid a fee to put in at 142nd St. Marina/Harpoon Hanna's but the last time I was out that way it didn't look like they were using that ramp anymore but I could be wrong. It was a hellish narrow, boat filled, channel to get out of that ramp though.

By the way, just got back in the door from lake clarkefishing. Didn't do too well tonight. Caught just one decent bass and a large blue gill. For some reason the cats weren't hitting one night crawlers like the other times I was down. But it was a beautiful night for cruising around so we did some of that.

EZMOBEE,
I thought I would be of more help but I was told about the the one
weeweefire mentioned on 87th. No one I talked to new of anything closer to where your staying.

I would call some of the marinas close to the inlet or in west oc to see storage costs for your trailer. The Municiple on 100 looks creepy to me 1/2 fenced in garbage all around trailers with no wheels boats with no outdrives.

I was told theft was not a big problem but just the way its set up anybody off the street can walk in. I was told It is also a impound yard for the police. Sorry I could not help you out more. I will still try to find you more info.

Thanks. Sound like my trailer would fit right in :) I'm not overly worried about that part because we can always put it in one of our allotted spots.

Just to add to the list, there is a ramp at Smitty McGee's on 54. It does not generate a ton of traffic, usually.

Re: Boat Ramps in Ocean City, MD

I'll add some more info and I have another question.....

The municiple lot on 100th works out great for storing the boat and/or trailer. They must have cleaned up the mess that Denny had observed in the past. I think it's $10 a day or $50 for the week. Not too bad. Plenty of room and easy to get in an out of.

My question is, I have been using the ramp at 87th/Bearing Rd. However, last year, the attendent told me that they would be closing that ramp and opening a new one further down. Apparently the residents didn't like the boat ramp traffic  I haven't been able to find out anything about this other ramp and am concerned about where I'm going to launch my boat this year. We rented a place on 94th so the 87th st ramp would be ideal if it's still there. Anyone know anything?

Not sure, ez. Been awhile since I have been down the ocean, hon!

Maybe call Tom Shuster at Rec and Parks? 410-250-0125, or email him at tshuster@oceancitymd.gov

This is what I received:

I am sorry to report I have no information about the new boat ramp. The old ramp is operated by the Public Works Department and will be in service for the 2011 season. Please contact Pam Peters of Public Works at 410-524-0391 if you have any other questions. Thanks.

That's good news to me as I'm staying very close to the old ramp. It's a nice ramp but has a pain in the butt approach and no parking.

Just got back from O.C. The commercial ram is closed for renovations, We had to use another. We found the bahina marina on 22nd street bay side. it was a noncrouded place, very clean, frindley service but did cost $10 in and $10 out. a bit of a pain to get into @ low tide. but would use it again if I can find a cheeper place to stay. the talbot with slip was $115/night
