Hello, I'm currently in the process of replacing the floor and stringers in my 71 fish n sky 15 foot boat with a 55hp Chrysler motor I purchased about 8 mos ago. I've already pulled up all of the floor that I want but does anybody have an idea about how I can square the corner of without cutting into a hole thru the boat which I did in another spot already. FYI, after looking at this site I believe I have made some crucial mistakes in this floor, like grind the fiberglass smooth on the floor, so now I need to know how I can get these stringers and floor in without anymore mistake or mishaps. I have posted some pics of the floor. While Im at can anyone tell me where I can get a manual on for the motor and boat possibly. I have some more question but lets just start with these and thanks in advance for any help you folk can supply me with.

Welcome to iboats man. Do a search for hull extension and there will be all the information you will need and a bunch of cool facts. Grinding the stringers flat is not a problem just PL you new ones down and glass and you will be ok.

question where your hammer is that what your ripping out ?? if so the back area that you alredy clean out looks good.. but i wouldnt go any deeper into floor, look like marine grade plywood and just coat new with epoxy and some fiberglass /resin and new carpet or what ever.. just hope you use a mask tho my uncle did a bass boat for us a few yrs ago of course i helped but those glue fumes gave me a buzzing headache but your pics show some great work

Thanks for the help fellas. Randy as for the where the hammer is I was hoping to leave that portion in what do you think or should I remove. The reason I didnt remove orignally is bc of the grooves in molded indentation in the wood, but if you all think it would be more beneficial in the long run let me know. Thanks again.

Hello again, when I get ready to install the stringers do I need to place strips of foam or another form of material before laying the stringers so it will not create a flexpoint. I've heard contradicting info on this topic can someone clear up this matter for me. Thanks in advance.

I would just bed them in PL Premium. It dries Flexible. Where are you going to get your glassin materials?

Do you mean that your new wood stringers don't match the shape of the hull? I used a thickened epoxy misture (like mayo) to bed my stringers to the hull before glassing

I havent actually gotten the wood for the stringers yet, partially bc I dont know the size to get because the wood was nearly dust when I cut into the fiberglass encasement. If I had to guess its 2x8 in the center stringer and 2x4 stringer on outer. Wood, I dont know where Im gonna get the material in oklahoma places you can recommend for the cloth and resin thats reasonably price or may an alternative.

Google search for "west resin 105" they have a good slow hardener(#206) that will give you an extra minute with the glass. there are a lot of places that sell it online, its a bit pricey, but I think its a lot better than the generic at home depot. Most places that sell that also will have glass matt in good size sheets

I would use poly resin . Much cheaper and will last as long or longer than most people even think about keeping a boat.

Welcome to iboats!

First what year motor are you working with? I may be able to help you with the repair manual.
As for your stringers were they 2x material to start with? You can use ext grade cdx plywood for your stringers
If you need 1 1/2'' get 3/4 ply and glue them together with Tite Bond lll waterproof glue.
The plywood can be cut down to what ever size you need, plus if you need more than 8' of run you can lap the ply to make it longer.
The deck I would match the existing one if your going to leave the bow piece in...if not 5/8 CDX with poly resin 1 layer of 1 1/2 oz csm on both sides and a layer of 6oz mat on the top of the deck over the csm. Bed everything in PL adhesive or make peanut butter mixture with resin, cabisol and 1/4 chopped fiberglass. I use US Composites..... http://www.uscomposites.com/ for my glass and resin needs.

Let me know about the motor I may have that manual your looking for. :)
