I have been working on my '61 red fish with '62 rude 40hp since April non stop and wife is getting hot! She calls it an entity. Could definitely be full time unless you force yourself to not neglect other things... but it's tough!

I'm sure this is 'chit-chat' but I wonder how many people take this from an 'advocation' or hobby, to a 'vocation' or job.
My wife is not exactly pleased with the "Sanford and Son" appearance if my driveway, but I'm having fun. The only thing stalling my resto, is me constantly over-analyzing things. I need to think less and glass more.

If you are getting paid it is a job - until the check clears it is a hobby.

To me it's a labor of love. If I didn't really love doing it, I'd junk it and just float around on my 'toon. I've been bashed about my old B'liner with it's old OMC/Cobra drive but I love the lines and the style, so I'm spending more than it'll ever be worth but that's my choice. When it's done, I hope I can stand back and look at it with pride. JMHO.

i make everyone pay cash......wallmart wont even take a cheque in canada

It is neither. It is a disease.

lol.....MBS IS AN IBOATS CONDITION!

as a person that started doing his own boat as a hobby, or labor of love, and turned it into a job/business....i feel im qualified to answer this one.

if it is your boat....its a hobby......
if it is a friends boat.......its friendship dues.
if it is a persons boat you are being paid to do...its a part time job.
if its a boat you bought to restore and sell for a profit....its financial suicide :D:D;)

cheers

In a way it is a job..You're getting paid in the end...With the $$$ you save doing it :D....I woke up when one place quoted a $1000 to "re-do" the floor and I only paid $2200 for the boat....Also trying to get the wife to see a reason for another garage..she says "Just do not see the reason to put "old stuff" in a garage..I need for her to crumble up some rotted wood in her hand ;)
