My latest Stupid Human Trick was on Memorial Day.
I returned to the ramp after a great day out with my Grand Kids and their parents. While my son tends the boat I walked to the parking lot to get my rig. I spot the '98 Mountaineer but with no trailer, and I just look at it with that sinking feeling. What NOW! The police just happened to be in the area, so I walk over to him to report my trailer stolen. It was as if he knew my trailer. He asked "Tandem Axel?" Power Winch?" "Good Condition?" Answered yes to all questions and then he said go over to your car and we will make a report. We go over to the Mountaineer and by now my son came over to see whats wrong. Then he says, Dad that's not your Mountaineer, your's is over there.
I would have been more embarassed but the relief won over the feeling of stupidity.
Ok - Give me my "Dumb Award".

By the way, how long does it take to live this down???

I got called to a stolen vehicle a few years back. After searching I found the vehicle about 10 miles away. The poor old lady driving it was very confused. She walked out of the doctors office, got into "her" car and started it. She thought for a minute that she was foolish for leaving the keys in it, then drove home. After I stopped her she realized it was not her car after all, just an identical buick riveria.

It won't work on the newer generation cars, but in High School, one of my buds had a ignition key for his car that also fit another kid's car.

Everywhere he saw the other car, he'd try the door. If it wasn't locked, he'd move the car to the other end of whatever parking lot it was on when he found it.

Made the guy crazy. We didn't tell him about the other key fitting his car for about a year.

LOL...been there...

I was having a break at work one day. I went to sleep in the rig for 1/2 hour then woke up and walked to the gas station for a can of coke.

While I was walking there another identical rig from the same company but a different depot pulled up directly in front of mine.

The poor guy had climbed into the bunk by the time I got to the door. I thought I'd been hijacked, he thought I was trying to hijack him.

He'd started to dial the police when I noticed my rig parked behind....

I reported a car stolen at Logan Airport in 77. Just after calling BPD, I remembered I left on Alleghany Airlines (US Air) now, and returned on Pan AM. Different parking ramps, numbered the same. Duh!

Re: Boat Retreval

went out drinking one night with a buddy. we didn't have permission to park in this particular parking garage but if you have someone walk thru the stairway to the driveway he can hit the button and raise the gate so you can drive in (garage is for office bldg and not staffed or parked in at night).

so, we park for free in 'our' garage and walk to the bars. have a great time, too good i guess.

we head back to the garage and can't find his car on any level. we walked up and down 6 levels at 3am in the morning, can't find it anywhere and i'm sure we checked everywhere more than once. so, we get a ride and he calls the police to file a report. he was bummed, nice car.

a few days later and the police call him back, they found his car!! woohoo....so i asked him where they recovered it from...(no real surprise here)....in the garage across the street!! they are identical bldgs. son of a! glad i didn't make that report.

Having been born and raised near savannah,ga along with my wife..and having seen the movie...In the Garden of Goodness and Evil...everyone knows that a true southern lady is usually armed. My wife..i mean this true southern lady goes to the local shopping center shopping and is there a few hours..upon returning to her car in the parking lot she discovers that it is now occupied by 2 hispanic males. Fearing that it is about to be stolen she withdraws her weapon and orders said hispanic males from her car....welll all said hispanic males know is that a crazy white woman with a gun, that they can,t understand seems to want their car...after the car is of course abondoned the lady calms down gets in and guess what..the key doesn't work..this is not her car

My first Beetle (Volkswagen) was white and so was the car of half the population of Holland. After a heavy frost we came out of the restaurant and found the lock frozen. Five minutes later a very well-dressed gentleman asked me why I was peeing on his doorlock.

You got off easy.....

Around here, somebody catch you doing that to their car,,, at minimum--- they'd slip up and kick you from behind, making sure you fell in the puddle.
