I have a 17ft marsham with a 115 mercury blueband on it.
Under certain conditions the boat has a tendecy to roll to port side. The anode is slightly off centre but nothing that should cause this degree of banking. Is there anything that can be doneto combat this! Please be gentle with me if this seems a stupid question as i am reasonably new to this.
Many thanks for any help you may have

check your load. balance the load. my sister has a boat (23footer / expensive) that was poorly engineered. batteries, water storage tank, and majority of seating is on one side, thus it wants to ride low to port. trim tabs help this tremendously, as no way to move things around.

Sorry i should have added everything that i have checked most of the weight distribution, battery is completely central with a 22ltr tank either side. have been using the fuel from the port side tank first so would expect it to roll to starboard first though.

Another post by me again, i should have mentioned it happens only when under power, she floats perfectly flat when stationary, it only happens when under power. The last time this happened the water was reasonably calm and i was travelling out with the tide at 45degrees to it..... ANy suggestions..........

Why don't you move this thread to propellers and contact Walleyehed. I have read on here where different types of props can make boats run unbalanced. I didn't know that and will keep it in mind if I ever have a similar problem again.

Additionally, if that doesn't fix it some some sort of trim tab should fix it for you and not effect static buoyancy. People talk about "smart tabs" all the time on here. Maybe they're worth a try.

Believe it or not we could use a bit more info.

Are you using the trim function on your motor?
Do you have a Hydrofoil on the anti-ventilation plate above the prop?
What type of Propeller is on the boat?
What is the Hull style?

A list to the port side is common. Most often caused by the torque of the prop. If the motor is trimed too far down the boat will run with too much of the bow (keel) in the water and this can cause the list. Hydrofoils will often create a list for the same reason. Trim the motor out more and see what happens. Call if you want 800-233-0194.

Ian, Does the roll get progressively worse as your speed increases? Is their a pull on the steering wheel? If the wheel doesn't pull right(or is hard to steer right), then the torque of the prop is not your issue. If the roll gets worse as speed increases, I could be an imperfection in the hull. I also had a 25' cuddy cabin boat roll to port just because of the wind. It was a test drive, and I didn't buy it, partly because of that issue.
