Boat Sales Near Jupiter in Florida ??

Ok I am sick of seeing my dream boats sell for much much less in the US compared to the cost in the UK. So my brother and I are looking into buying and shipping one to the UK, have looked into shipping cost tax etc but what i need is a few reccomended brokers from you guys whose stock i can view on the internet as a start. I have someone in the florida area who could check the boat out and oversee the shipping from that side. But obviously need some advice on brokers over there, probably looking at $20000 or less. And I know what your gonna say.......Florida is a big place! I Know but anything would be a start. Thanks

Looks like the marinemax has a lot of locations to choise from. Would stick to the area where your friend lives. Are you talking new or used? <br /> Do your homework. Gave away a motor part to a person in canada, wound up costing him about twice the cost of shipping just to get it thru the customs federalies. Why the high cost overthere, taxes? regards fred

I would have to pay around 19% in taxes to import it plus roughly around $2300 shipping, example: A Bayliner Trophy mid eighties with an i/o in reasonable condition will cost anything between £14000-£17000 thats around $25000-$30000, and i have seen many for les than $10000, + tax/import = £6800 + Shipping = £9100 + CE Marking £1000 Total =£10000<br />So even with all the costs I there are still significant savings, there are traders on ebay over here that list boats before they are imported and the buyer (knowingly) pays the shipping and taxes.

Ok my friend lives in Jupiter, Florida<br />(I thought Jupiter was a planet.....Ignoramus!!)<br />So if anyone knows any brokerage firms near that end of the world i would be obliged.

Neil look here at iboats, yachtworld.com or boattraderonline.com most of these boats are listed by dealers or brokers. They have many ways of searching. Click advanced search you can narrow your search area. You can also search for brokers. <br /><br />If you know what your looking for have your friend look in the local paper, better deals and there are a lot of boats in that area.<br /><br />If you find something in this area I would be glad to be of assistance also.

Try Google searching and eBay, I found a lot of them that way. I just recently bought a new boat in FL also, drove across the country and brought it back. It was cheaper than buying locally. The boat market is screwed up there right now after all the storms.<br /><br />I can tell you NOT to consider doing business with Wavemaker Boats in Cape Coral...

The Ft Lauderdale area has a trillion boat dealers, it's about a 2-3 hour drive from Jupiter. MarineMax, which I saw someone mention, is down there. Bass Pro Shops also has a ++huge++ showroom in Dania, which is a little further south. They are both within driving distance from Jupiter, though, and they both carry ten bazillion boats.<br /><br />-E

Neil - You don't have to limit yourself to buying from a dealer though you may have some protection by doing it that way. I sold a 27 1/2'er to a guy who lived in Sweden. He had a friend in Stuart Florida who made the purchase from me and took care of the shipping.

In Florida the "good deals" you see on boats are ones used in saltwater. Freshwater used boats here are way better and bring higher prices. A 10yr old saltwater boat will look used...a 10 old freshwater boat will still look sparkling new. If coming to Florida to buy, go inland to central or northern Florida along the Saint John River to find a boat.

Thanks for all the input, its very usefull. I hadnt thought about the Saltwater issue as it really isnt that much of an issue in the UK. So where would be best to look for private sales?
