I have a wiese boat seat the usual seat sold everywhere. It has a broken backrest, can the 4 screws be removed and the cover removed (velco on bottom of backrest ) to access the plywood on backrest ? The cover is great cond, and new seat cost is 50$. Replacing wood would be cheaper. Anybody have suggestions or tips on doing this .

My brother and I did a seat like that in my Bayliner (fixed the wood, not the same seat). We didn't really know what we were doing so we took our time taking it apart ... replaced the wood with some marine plywood we had and reversed the process putting it back together.

Seat's been fine for several years now.

I can't see any reason you couldn't fix it with some concerned effort as you go. And you never know until you try. I say go for it. Look at it this way, it is presently broken. So if you can't fix it, you only lost some time. But you could actually fix it and learn a new skill at the same time. :thumb:
