Re: Boat Seats Help Please

It's completely up to you, you put two captains seats in to gain more space (assuming). Now you want to loose space by adding a sundeck. When I redid mine I thought the same thing. Mine is a 19' boat and will be a 19' boat. There is not going to be much gain in room. To answer your question, I believe I have 17 or 19 inches from front of seat to backrest. That is just the cushion part. The seat boxes were made seperately and are 14x14x13.

Re: Boat Seats Help Please

THANKS yes i did put the captains seats to gain the room to put in the sundeck and bench and still have some room for people sitting on the bench to put there feet I am giving up alot of floor space but the design is one i have always wanted to try and this boat is at the point were its time to either do it or not. the biggest problem is space for it but with that said I still want to go forward with it second problem is the angle if I make the back of the seat to little of an angle it will be very uncomfortable if i make it to much I lose to much valuble floor space kinda a catch 22 I will try to get some pics next chance i get to work on the boat I am useing my brothers garage and its a hour drive. thanks again and please anyone else that has done this type of conversion please leave a post letting me know what to expect

I'm interested in how this turns out. I have been contemplating the same idea with our 20', just haven't had the courage to proceed yet, lol.

Re: Boat Seats Help Please

HEY Livin,
Thanks for the reply I will keep the thread updated as I go along I did some research last night on searays website and there archieve models the 1990 model 160 came with two buckets and a bench I am going to try to simulate that models layout on my 180 model I am going to see if I can find one of these 160 models for sale locally so I can check out the layout in detail and get some measurements I also am thinking about makeing the sundeck a three piece with lift assit cylinders like the newer models have but that has its draw backs as well as i do alot of fishing and wanted to be able to remove the sundeck and have rodholders under it along with live well and ice chest I should have pics up soon of what I have to work with and please keep the input coming and ideas and help is welcome.
