I know Im not supposed to ask about engines but this seemed the only area that would cover it . I just test drove a 22 ft angler w/ a 150 merc with low hours . At full throttle it only went tops around 30 ( no gps or speedo) there was around 900 lbs of people in the boat and no other gear really. and it didnt seem to come up on plane very well . Does that speed sound right or is the boat underpowered also its a 2 stroke . Any info would be great

Re: Boat seems sluggish

Even if the motor was in perfect working order, a 22' fishing boat with a single 150 will almost always be a dog.

Sounds almost at its max on weight. I know my smaller boat will dog it once I get to my full weight.

Thanks for the help . Do you think installing trim tabs would help it get on plane easier?

Re: Boat seems sluggish

It will probably help but do you really want a boat that needs tabs just to plane? You were smart in bringing a bunch of people with you when you sea trailed the boat. This is something I always do.
