boat seems to 'dog track' hard pull to port - anode trim tab has little effect

not sure how else to describe it. Of course what i mean is that it pulls VERY Hard to port. I have a 2000 17ft starcraft with the standard 3.0 mercruiser and mercruiser outdrive. Rack and pinion steering.

the harder the throttle the more pronounced. trim set up or down. You wouldn't want to let go of the steering at full throttle or it'll whip very hard port.

I have played with the anode trim tab behind the prop, doesn't seem to make much difference. I've tried both starboard and port.Although i believe the school of thought there is to move the tab towards the pull? regardless, either way didn't seem to help much.

i would think that the anode trim tab would be for 'finer' adjustments? Is there an alignment on the outdrive itself? Is it possible the outdrive is out of alignment with the hull? As the name of my thread would imply, it reminds me of a rear wheel car which is 'dogtracking'...

I cant seem to find much other than the anode trim tab adjustment with google/iboat/internet searches.

my 16 year old is now driving it - would love to have this corrected.

much appreciate any help.
