Hello first time boat owner here that doesn't know jack about it yet. The great experience of my families first trip out on our but was less than exciting. PROBLEMS PROBLEMS already. Bought an 89 Thundercraft I/O has a 2.3 liter Ford 4cyl. An OMC outdrive. Boat starts great idles smooth (I think a little high though guage said 1000) ran the boat for about 10 to 15 minutes thought hell yes good start. Then oh yes problems. Boat became very slugish and seemed to be cutting out when boat finally made it up on plain. Stopped let kids swim shut it down looked at stuff that I had no idea what it was and then started up again. Same problem as first time. By the time I was ready to leave reverse boat would die and forward it would die  needless to say not a good first trip. Been reading reading reading and I think my heads gonna explode. Anybody out there have any ideas? If so please please let me know what to check. I think fuel problems. Please I need a guide in a very bad way.

I would say you have a fuel issue. Change the filter and if you can, measure the pressure from the fuel pump.

I apprecaiate the reply. Called the previous owner and was advised that it had done the same thing to them, but they resolved the issue the marine fuel stabilizer. Probably going to drain the tank and do some fuel system revamping. Old boat tank isn't pressurized and think that filling it stirred some stuff up in the tank.

Thanks again for the reply.
