I am having a hard time finding some boat stands to prop up my 21ft cobia to do the bottom paint on.

Any suggestions of what I can do to overcome my dilemma? I am in the south florida area. Thank you.

Re: Boat stands

Do what boat yards do, put your boat on blocks then perform your maintenance, you will still need to move the blocks at least once and this can be a bit tricky but if you look around at all the marinas you will see many boats sitting on blocks. I think you might be able to do this work with the boat sitting on the trailer too, but it will still require some blocking, raising one side, then the other, hope you get the idea?

rent them from a marina. They may even let you do the work there.

One way to "rent" equipment from a business that isn't in the renting business is to buy them from the business with an agreement to sell them back, less the rental amount, when you are finished with them. That way they are secure if you take off or break them.
A friend of mine did that when his car full of family broke down on the first day of a 10 day road trip. He left his to be repaired by a used car dealer, bought a similar car and continued on his way; sold it back to him on the way home for less than what he paid, and picked up his repaired car to go on home.
