boat steering for side console

Hello im thinking of building a side console for my boat. I was looking at rack systems. Is there room in a side console for rack steering

thanks allot. If I buy a teleflex rack system do I need anything else. I read something about a kit to hook it up to motor. Is there a special name for kit. Also will any marie steering wheel work on these kits
