I see posts on here all of the time advising people to get a boat surveyed before they buy it. Just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to have a boat surveyed?

Re: Boat Surveys

I generally charge a flat fee on the type of boat.<br />I guess you could average it out to 300 for most boats and higher for larger towable cruisers. Houseboats are 500 minimum. The boat being surveyed should be out of the water so for some boats that is an added expense. For a small bowrider in the 18-19 foot range sometimes just paying a mechanic an hour to check it is enough. If it has a V-8 then that takes a little more time.

Re: Boat Surveys

There are a few types of surveys .I found this out while trying to have a boat we were considering survered.some are done without any analysis of the motors or drives, just written observations.some are done with a sea trial.I had trouble getting anyone to do a compression check.Prices varried from $300 to $1500.Charlie
